The District's Pipeline Safety Grant Program is funded through the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) and the Commission's assessment on Washington Gas Light (WGL) on a 50/50 basis. WGL is the sole distributor of natural gas in the District of Columbia. By accepting the grant from USDOT, the Commission commits to implementing the District's natural gas pipeline safety law as provided in DC Code 43-1001 and associated regulations per DCMR Title 15 , Chapter 23, both of which are in compliance with the provisions in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, Parts 190, 191, 192, 198 and199
