Commission Welcomes Wendy Newkirk, Executive Assistant to Commissioner Betty Ann Kane
Wendy Newkirk
Wendy Newkirk is the Executive Assistant to Commissioner Betty Ann Kane.
She has worked in the District Government for 20 years. Ms. Newkirk began
her career as a civil servant with the District of Columbia Council in the
Legislative Services Division. Prior to joining the Commission, she worked
for the District of Columbia Retirement Board.
Wendy is active in the community and does extensive volunteer work.
She worked with the Boy Scouts of America for 10 years, before founding
the Sistah Circle Rites of Passage Program. This program targets female
high school students, empowering them as they transition into the next phase
of their life.
Wendy is a native Washingtonian and has received a Bachelor of Science degree
in Mass Communications from Norfolk State University.
