The Commission Welcomes Veronica M. Ahern as an Attorney Advisor

Image:Veronica M. Ahern On June 8, 2009, Veronica M. Ahern, known as Ronnie, joined the District of Columbia Public Service Commission as an Attorney Advisor in the Office of the General Counsel. She joins the Commission after a career with private law firms. At Nixon Peabody LLP, she specialized in telecommunications and represented the Puerto Rico Telecommunications Regulatory Board as well as incumbent and competitive local exchange carriers. She also represented Qualcomm, Inc. in its successful efforts to develop and deploy wireless communications products and services.

Before joining Nixon Peabody, Ms. Ahern was a partner in the law firm Chadbourne & Parke. Prior to private practice, she served as the Associate Administrator for International Affairs at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). NTIA is the principal advisor on communications and computer issues to the President of the United States. She joined NTIA after several years with the Federal Communications Commission.

Ms. Ahern is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and Rosemont College where she serves on the Board of Trustees. She is also a resident of the District of Columbia.
