  • D.C. Act passed in 1996
  • D.C. Public Service Commission is transitioning local markets to competition.
  • 228 Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) have been certificated; 80 have withdrawn or asked to withdraw.
  • 118 CLECs have filed tariffs; 79 of these are active and for currently certificated CLECs.
  • 203 companies have had interconnection agreements approved; 65 of these are active and for currently certified CLECs.
